Who is Kara Ireland?
When I was fourteen, I wrote my first story. It was called “Meant to Be” and it was Demi Lovato fanfiction. I had just discovered that you could write stories about your favorite people. It seemed awesome to me. I wrote it for fun and it was stuck at 62 reads for eight months. Never picked it back up because my interest was fleeting.
When I was sixteen, I had another shot at it. This time around, it was Fifth Harmony. Once again, I was putting silenced dispositions into words and found liberation within that. I found that I’d given a voice to multitudes of people like me. I was exploring fantasies in worlds I’d created because my world was not as fortunate. And it picked up. 100 reads. 1000. 10,000. 100,000. A million.
When I was eighteen, I’d solidified my role as an author that tells stories people want to hear. I was eighteen and had ten stories on a free platform that had reached people worldwide. I was eighteen with thousands of followers, garnered solely from my words alone. I was eighteen and I published my first 271 page book. I was eighteen and sold my first 300 copies, brought in my first bout of revenue. I was eighteen and had published two books by the end of the year.
I am twenty. I have five published books. They all have successes. I have a journey that defies my own beliefs. I’ve always reached for the stars and now I’m grabbing them. Ghosts is my latest book and one that I am the most proud of. Here’s to more words and journies awaiting.
